We get asked fairly often why we haven’t grown past four people in over a decade, given how far out our commission list runs.
The honest answer is that voicing is a skill that takes years to develop consistency in, and every additional voicer changes what “a Timbre instrument” sounds like, even if only slightly. Four people who’ve voiced side by side for years produce more consistent results than a larger shop with less shared experience — for us, that consistency matters more than throughput.
It does mean a longer wait for a commission. We tell every new client that upfront rather than let the lead time be a surprise partway through the conversation.
